Shabbat

At Ohr Shalom, we try to allow Shabbat to serve as the pulse of our lives – every week reminding us of the blessings, which are intrinsic to this world. We take a day every week to slow down and unplug in order to attune ourselves to the possibility of holiness.

Our Friday night services usher in the joy and rest that marks Shabbat. We offer  – a “traditional” service with musical accompaniment by Zeji Ozeri and a family friendly service, often led by children, followed by a wonderful dinner (Shabbat Kehillatit).   Shabbat morning we continue our celebration with a traditional service, often led by members of the congregation including the children preparing for Bar or Bat Mitzvah.  This service always includes “sweets” to help sweeten the day, and is always followed by a Kiddush lunch, often with time for learning.
