Welcome to Ohr Shalom Sisterhood!

Building Friendship, Connection, and Community

At the heart of Ohr Shalom, the Sisterhood is a circle of women who come together to foster friendships, deepen spiritual life, and strengthen our congregation. We believe that when women gather, we not only enrich our own lives, but we also nourish the soul of our community.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to cultivate lasting friendships and meaningful connection, while actively supporting our synagogue through programs, learning, and service.

What We Do

Friendship & Connection
We provide opportunities for women to meet, bond, and grow together. Whether it’s through holiday celebrations, casual gatherings, or shared projects, the Sisterhood is a place where relationships blossom into lifelong friendships.

Spiritual Nourishment
We host monthly Rosh Chodesh gatherings, exploring the themes and wisdom of each Hebrew month. These circles give us space to pause, reflect, and celebrate the cycles of Jewish time together as women.

Community Engagement
From fundraising to special events, we support Ohr Shalom and the greater San Diego Jewish community. Sisterhood initiatives help sustain our synagogue while creating joy and meaning for its members.

Learning & Growth
We organize classes, workshops, and conversations on Jewish life, spirituality, and contemporary issues—including a space for exploring the role of women and feminism in Judaism.
