Jewish Disabilities Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month (JDAAIM)

JDAIM-logo

Each February, Ohr Shalom celebrates Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAIM) with a wide variety of programming.  JDAIM was established in 2009 by the Jewish Special Education International Consortium, with a stated mission of uniting Jewish communities worldwide to raise awareness and champion the rights of all Jews to be included and to participate in every aspect of Jewish life.  In past years we have had renowned speakers, services signed by ASL interpreters, disability focused Movie Night, Readings with the Rabbi, and drashot, to religious school programming, there is something for everyone in February.  As the first synagogue in San Diego to start observing JDAIM back in 2019, our JDAIM committee welcomes new ideas from the congregation, as well as the larger Jewish community, always looking for new ways to incorporate our commitment to inclusion and awareness!
