Social Action

Ohr Shalom is dedicated to the Judaic ethic of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).
We aspire to “think globally, but act locally” by working with the many organizations in our community.
We attempt to have one donation project and one action project per month.

Ohr Shalom offers many opportunities to give back. Our members participate in such projects as beach cleanups, blood drives, food drives, fundraising walks, and feeding the hungry.
TAY ACADAMY LUNCH PROJECT
At the TAY Academy, homeless teens have a safe place to gather during the day and receive a variety of support services. Laundry and shower facilities are available. Ohr Shalom volunteers prepare, deliver and serve hot lunches to these youth (approximately 18 on any given day). This project needs your support on an on-going basis. Non-perishable food items for the JFS Hand Up Food Pantry. Please place donations in the bins in the synagogue lobby.
